One Shining Moment

March Madness has long been a favorite for my family. I remember growing up often not knowing much, if anything about any of the teams but I would still fill out a bracket and get into the games. I mean, GET INTO the games! It was so exciting to have my picks and think I had a chance at winning! Yes, I said I! This is what I've been thinking about this year ever since March Madness got under way. What is it that gets us so excited about this tournament? I mean, there's the whole Cinderella story and that's great! But I've been thinking about my thoughts of ME winning. I really think it gives people some sort of a sense of accomplishment for what...happening to pick some teams that win? It's really kind of funny! And all part of the Madness that I just love!
So one of my/our favorite things has been to watch One Shining Moment after the championship game. You know, the highlight reel played to the song "One Shining Moment." There have been a few different artists chosen to sing this song over the years. It all started with David Barrett and most recently was sung by Luther Vandross. Well this year CBS decided to change it up again and go with a chick. The chick they chose is Jennifer Hudson. Now, I'm not a Jennifer Hudson hater - but come on, CBS!!!! I'm sad to say they took a little bit of the magic away for me. And partly because they inserted clips of her singing. ALL I'm watching this thing for is to see the highlights from the tournament. The lyrics for the song are pretty dang good too. Did Jennifer hit a clutch 3 or free throw to get back into the game? NO!! Did she bring down a crucial rebound? NO!! So I don't want to see her! But don't worry, you're not the only ones hearing my ranting, I was sure to let CBS know how I felt. So to help me feel better, someone was kind enough to post an edited version of this year's OSM to the David Barrett version of the song. And if you want to hear/see some of my favorites, just go to YouTube and search for One Shining Moment David Barrett. My VERY favorite is 1997 when the Arizona Wildcats won it.
